RUTH Bader Ginsburg’s death just weeks before the election gives Trump and the Republicans an opportunity to shift the Supreme Court in their favour.

The court already had a 5-4 conservative majority, and Ginsburg was one of the most stalwart liberals on the bench.

If Amy Coney Barrett is confirmed, the Supreme Court will be overwhelmingly conservative – and will give the Republicans a far more amenable lineup of justices to their ends.
